Installing: ------------------------------------------------------------ a) Create a new mysql database on your server, note down the user/pass and database name for the next step. b) Open up the include/conf.cgi.dist and input the database access settings, such as username/password and database name. The path to the backup directory needs to be r-w (read and writeable) by PerlDesk, this is where your database backups will be stored - please pay close attention to the security of it's location. Please set it as as a path outside of your web server, or protect it fully. Anyone with access to this folder will have access to your complete backups! After completing this, please rename the file to conf.cgi! (remove '.dist') c) Upload all files, please place all images outside of the cgi-bin folder. Ensure all .cgi files are set to executable permission, normally 755 is required. d) Open up your web browser and run the install.cgi. e) If you want to use receiving mail from pop-servers, please go to include/pop-email.cgi and edit PerlDesk location variable. f) If you want to use autoclosing of ticket and tasks manager's remindings by mail(sms), you should cron include/notify.cgi. By default it's set to run every 30 mins... but you can configure it throught Admin->Settings. Remember, that this setting in Admin->settings and in cron settings should be same. g) After completing the install.cgi, simply go to admin.cgi and begin using perlDesk.
